BACKGROUND: Epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) are protective factors against cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) because of their vasodilatory, cholesterol-lowering, and anti-inflammatory effects. Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH), encoded by the EPHX2 gene, degrades EETs into less biologically active metabolites.
