The atherosclerosis prone LDL receptor knockout mice (Ldlr-/-, C57BL/6J background) carry a deletion of the NADP(H)-transhydrogenase gene (Nnt) encoding the mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes NADPH synthesis.
