A novel screening procedure was developed for isolating Chinese hamster ovary cell mutants altered in the early steps of the biosynthesis of asparagine-linked glycoproteins. This procedure identifies cells with low intracellular levels of two lysosomal hydrolases, beta-glucuronidase and alpha-iduronidase.
