BACKGROUND: Key genes related to cell cycle and apoptosis pathways play critical roles in bladder cancer. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the 3'-untranslated regions (3'-UTR) of genes may impact microRNA (miRNA)-messenger RNA (mRNA) binding capacity and alter gene expression to contribute to the susceptibility of cancers.
