PURPOSE: A low mutation rate seems to be a general feature of pediatric cancers, in particular in oncofusion gene-driven tumors. Genetically, Ewing sarcoma is defined by balanced chromosomal EWS/ETS translocations, which give rise to oncogenic chimeric proteins (EWS-ETS).
