OBJECTIVE: A C-to-T single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) located at position 1858 of human protein tyrosine phosphatase PTPN22 complementary DNA carries the highest risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) among all non-HLA genetic variants.
