PEGylation, or addition of poly(ethylene glycol) chains to proteins, is widely used to improve delivery in pharmaceutical applications. Recent studies suggest that stabilization of a protein by PEG, and hence its proteolytic degradability, is sequence-dependent and requires only short PEG chains.
