We screened for hepatitis C virus (HCV) inhibitors using the JFH-1 viral culture system and found that selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), such as tamoxifen, clomifene, raloxifene, and other estrogen receptor α (ERα) antagonists, inhibited HCV infection.
