The M1-muscarinic cholinergic receptor (M1AChR) stimulates the release of inositol phosphates (IPs) but does not activate adenylyl cyclase. The beta-adrenergic receptor (beta-AR) stimulates adenylyl cyclase but has no effect on IP release.
