Gemcitabine (2',2'-difluorodeoxycytidine) is a major antimetabolite cytotoxic drug with a wide spectrum of activity against solid tumors. Hepatic elimination of gemcitabine depends on a catabolic pathway through a deamination step driven by the enzyme cytidine deaminase (CDA).
