Human serotonin transporter (hSERT) activity expressed in HeLa cells was stimulated by agents that release nitric oxide, stimulate soluble guanylyl cyclase, or activate cGMP-dependent protein kinase (PKG). This stimulation was blocked by a PKG inhibitor.
