Methanosarcina spp. begin methanogenesis from methylamines with methyltransferases made via the translation of UAG as pyrrolysine. In vitro evidence indicates two possible routes to pyrrolysyl-tRNA(Pyl). PylS ligates pyrrolysine to tRNA(Pyl).
