One third of Trypanosoma cruzi-infected individuals develop chronic Chagas disease cardiomyopathy (CCC) while the majority remains asymptomatic (ASY). About 30% of CCC patients develop heart failure due to end-stage inflammatory dilated cardiomyopathy.
