OBJECTIVES: alpha2-Adrenoreceptors restrain sympathetic nervous outflows and inhibit release of noradrenaline from sympathetic nerves. In-frame deletion of the alpha2C-adrenoreceptor subtype (alpha2CDel322-325) increases the risk of congestive heart failure.
