To assess the role of DNA alkylation damage in oncogene activation, plasmid DNA containing H-ras proto-oncogene (p220-EC) and oncogene (p220-EJ) were treated with increasing concentrations of carcinogenic methylnitrosourea (MNU) and ethylnitrosourea (ENU).
