We screened 77 non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines for mutations of the p53 gene using a single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) assay. We found that 57 cell lines (74%) had mutations of the p53 gene. Three cell lines had a deletion of the p53 gene.
