We have identified two fission yeast homologs of budding yeast Rad4 and human xeroderma pigmentosum complementation group C (XP-C) correcting protein, designated Rhp4A and Rhp4B. Here we show that the rhp4 genes encode NER factors that are required for UV-induced DNA damage repair in fission yeast.
