Rhp41 and Rhp42 of Schizosaccharomyces pombe are homologues of human XPC, which is involved in nucleotide excision repair (NER) of damaged DNA. Inactivation of rhp41 caused moderate sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
