Accurate aminoacylation of tRNAs by aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase is essential for the fidelity of protein synthesis. For Methanococcus jannaschii tRNA(Pro), accuracy is difficult because the cognate prolyl-tRNA synthetase also recognizes and aminoacylates tRNA(Cys) with cysteine.
