Development of polioencephalomyelitis in mice infected with lactate dehydrogenase-elevating virus (LDV) requires expression of N-tropic ecotropic MuLV retroviruses. 129/Sv mice are resistant to N-tropic MuLV expression and therefore do not develop LDV-induced polioencephalomyelitis.
