<h4>Background: </h4> Colistin is used against multi-drug resistant pathogens, yet resistance emerges either through dissemination of plasmid-mediated genes ( mcr ) or chromosomal mutation of genes involved in lipopolysaccharide synthesis (i.e. mgrB, phoPQ, pmrCAB).
