<title>Abstract</title> <p>The cause of hypoglycaemia in African trypanosomiasis remains unresolved. We found that infected mice show normal carbohydrate digestion, intestinal glucose absorption, and tissue glucose uptake, but a profound reduction of host glucose production via gluconeogenesis.
