Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly heterogeneous malignancy. In the clinic, therapeutic resistance is largely attributed to tumor heterogeneity. Growing evidence indicates that cancer stem cells (CSCs) are the major source of tumor heterogeneity.
