Mutations of the bridge-like lipid transport protein VPS13A and of the lipid scramblase XK result in Chorea Acanthocytosis (ChAc) and McLeod syndrome (MLS) respectively, two similar conditions involving neurodegeneration and deformed erythrocytes (acanthocytes).
