<p>Enchondromas are benign cartilage tumors and precursors tomalignant chondrosarcomas. Somatic mutations in the isocitratedehydrogenase genes (IDH1 and IDH2) are present in the majorityof these tumor types. How these mutations cause enchondromasis unclear.
