We recently described a subgroup of autopsied COVID-19 subjects (~40%), termed ‘profibrotic phenotype,’ who exhibited clusters of myofibroblasts (Mfbs), which were positive for the collagen-specific chaperone heat shock protein 47 (HSP47+) in situ.
