Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer (HDGC) is a multi-generational inherited form of diffuse gastric cancer, that represents 2% of gastric cancers, and carries a poor prognosis. The majority of HDGCs are caused by an autosomal dominant genetic mutation in the CDH1 gene, which encodes the cellular adhesion protein, E-cadherin.
