<title>Abstract</title> <p>Kinetochores assemble on centromeres (CENs) via histone H3 variant CENP-A and low levels of CEN transcripts. RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) activity is restrained by the CEN histone code, while CEN RNA concentrations are reduced by the nuclear exosome.
