Synaptic dysfunction is an early feature of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Synaptojanin 1 (SJ1), a phosphoinositide phosphatase linked to early-onset parkinsonism, is essential for clathrin-mediated endocytosis and synaptic vesicle recycling.
