Platelet membrane glycoprotein Ibalpha (GP Ibalpha) bears two molecular polymorphisms which are in linkage disequilibrium: the C/T dimorphism at codon 145 (HPA-2) and the variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) polymorphism in the macroglycopeptide region.
