Molecular mechanisms of pituitary tumorigenesis were studied using Polymerase chain reaction-single stranded conformational polymorphism with DNA sequencing to identify potential mutations in the ras protooncogenes and the tumor suppressor gene p53 in invasive pituitary adenomas and carcinomas.
