In antigen-presenting cells, class II molecules of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) bind peptides derived from endocytosed proteins. In certain B-lymphoblastoid cell mutants, MHC class II molecule-peptide complex formation is impaired, resulting in deficient antigen-presenting function.
