Renin is mainly stored in the renin granules (RGs) of juxtaglomerular cells (JGCs). RGs are a type of lysosome-related organelle (LRO), and knowledge on the underlying mechanism of RG biogenesis is limited. Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS) is characterized by multiple LRO defects.
