Emergence of artemisinin resistance in East Africa has greatly necessitated surveillance of artemisinin resistance in other African countries with great malaria burden. Specific mutations within the β-propeller and BTB/Poz domains of Pfkelch13 gene are validated markers of artemisinin resistance.
