BACKGROUND: Until now, Mendelian randomization (MR) studies have investigated the causal association of risk factors with Alzheimer's disease (AD) using large-scale AD genome-wide association studies (GWAS), GWAS by proxy (GWAX), and meta-analyses of GWAS and GWAX (GWAS+GWAX) datasets.
