Pseudomonas aeruginosa uses a type III secretion system (T3SS) to inject cytotoxic effector proteins into host cells. The promiscuous nucleotidyl cyclase, exoenzyme Y (ExoY), is one of the most common effectors found in clinical P. aeruginosa isolates.
