PURPOSE: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide, and the predominant risk factor for its development is smoking. Thymidylate synthase (TYMS) is a key enzyme in DNA synthesis that catalyzes the conversion of deoxyuridine monophosphate to dTMP.
