Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. An estimated half of cases involve genetic predisposition. Sequence variants in human KCNE2, which encodes a cardiac and epithelial K(+) channel β subunit, cause inherited cardiac arrhythmias.
