Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is an essential glycolipid of the outer membrane (OM) of Gram-negative bacteria with a tripartite structure: lipid A, oligosaccharide core and O antigen. Seven essential LPS-transport proteins (LptABCDEFG) move LPS to the cell surface.
