OBJECTIVES: Alterations in the PhoPQ two-component regulatory system may be associated with colistin resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae. MgrB is a small transmembrane protein produced upon activation of the PhoPQ signalling system, and acts as a negative regulator on this system.
