FSH, a glycoprotein hormone, is circulated from the pituitary and functions by binding to a specific FSH receptor (FSHR). FSHR is a G protein-coupled, seven-transmembrane receptor linked to the adenylyl cyclase or other pathways and is expressed in gonadal somatic cells.
