The misfolding and aggregation of α-synuclein (aSyn) eventually lead to an accumulation of toxic forms that disturb normal neuronal function and result in cell death. aSyn rich inclusions are seen in Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies and other synucleinopathies.
