Immunohistochemistry has recently been validated for the detection of the BRAFV600E mutation across a range of tumor types. In colorectal carcinoma, the presence of the BRAFV600E mutation can be used to virtually exclude Lynch syndrome in mismatch repair-deficient tumors.
