Erythroid differentiation of murine erythroleukemia (MEL) cells, as induced by dimethyl sulfoxide, can be suppressed by chemicals at very low concentrations, not affecting cell viability and proliferation, if present in the culture medium between 18 and 24 h after addition of the inducer.
