AIMS: Two single nucleotide polymorphisms in the methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene, 677C/T and 1298A/C, encode the thermolabile isoforms of the MTHFR enzyme that adversely affect the folic acid metabolic pathway.
