Paxillin and HIC5 are closely related adapter proteins that regulate cell migration and are tyrosine-phosphorylated by focal adhesion kinase (FAK). Paxillin, HIC5, and FAK tyrosine phosphorylation increase upon cell attachment and decrease upon detachment from extracellular matrix.
