Daptomycin is highly active against Staphylococcus aureus, including multidrug-resistant strains and those with reduced susceptibility to vancomycin. However, daptomycin-non-susceptible (Dap(NS)) strains [minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) >1mg/L] have been derived clinically and in vitro.
