Escherichia coli strains VH33 (PTS⁻ GalP⁺ strain displaying a strongly reduced overflow metabolism) and VH34 (additionally lacking the pyruvate kinase A) were evaluated for the production of a plasmid DNA (pDNA) vaccine.
