In an outbreak of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, the outbreak strain had an Asp516Tyr rpoB gene mutation. Phenotypically, low-level rifampicin (RMP) resistance (minimum inhibitory concentration [MIC] 1-2 mg/l) was observed.
