Porin-deficient mutants of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 were selected by isolating latamoxef-resistant mutants following chemical mutagenesis. Highly latamoxef-resistant mutants had alterations in both the outer membrane proteins and penicillin-binding protein 3, a lethal target of latamoxef.
